Independence day USA Poems
Lest We Forget
Fireworks and cookouts
And time spent with friends.
Swimming and playing
The good times never end.
But lest we forget
The reason for today
Let’s all say it now
Happy Independence Day!
A Nation Free
Today is a time for fireworks and fun
But we shouldn’t forget its reason.
This is one of the most important days
of the entire summer season.
Today’s the day our nation became free
and the date of the country’s birth.
For so many years we have grown to be
one of the best countries on earth.
Happy Independence Day!
4th of July poems
Today we celebrate freedom
thanks to those who came before.
Those brave men who fought and died
in each and every war.
Freedom always comes at a price,
And while we celebrate
We should tip our hats to the heroes
who made our country great.
Red White and Blue
Hamburgers and hot dogs
cooked on the grill,
Fireworks in the night
giving us all a thrill.
The country all decked
in red white and blue.
Friends all saying
‘Happy 4th of July to you.’
A Day to Celebrate
The coals are red hot
The flag’s proudly waving.
The fireworks are popping
And the band’s loudly playing.
All over the country
we see the stripes and stars
Today we celebrate
this great country of ours.
Poetry by Sharon Hendricks
‘Happy 4th of July to you.’

THE FREEDOM DECREE
by Michael Sage
Freedom is non-negotiable I do decree,
However, at what price and when is freedom, no longer free.
I ask this question because I am sure that we all agree,
Our country has become so corrupt and full of anarchy.
Our ruling politicians are causing chaos and unrelenting strife,
And expect us to march to the beat of their drums, and noisy fife.
While they abuse our trust, our taxes and embezzlement is rife,
And they make a misery of our right to a normal self-respecting life.
When our guests from other countries both far and near,
Have no rights and continually live with anxiety and also in fear.
Our constitution and other human rights that we hold so dear,
Are under threat by the ruling party who would like it to disappear.
When Joe Citizen finds it hard to stomach the deterioration of so many things,
And our leaders believe that we are their pawns and they are the kings.
When an immoral, unethical, dishonest leader expects us to jump when he sings,
Is the reason that all creed and colors are looking abroad to spread their wings.
Our leaders must realize circumventing the law for self-enrichment is not the key,
If we want our country to be prosperous and to be revered internationally.
A leader’s job is not to dictate, but rather to be respected, admired and be a trustee,
Of the land we love, with so much potential, a land which should be freer than free.

The American Flag
Joseph Rodman Drake
When freedom, from her mountain height
Unfurled her standard to the air,
She tore the azure robe of night
And set the stars of glory there.
She mingled with its gorgeous dyes
The milky baldric of the skies,
Then from his mansion in the sun
She called her eagle-bearer down
And gave into his mighty hand
The symbol of her chosen land.
My American Flag
The People of today
just rant and rave.
They burn my symbol of freedom,
I just want to grab and shake them.
They have no sense of pride,
For your beauty you never denied.
Like my brothers before me,
I have fought to keep your colors free.
With every battle that we had won,
you were there to show who was number one.
When our brothers had died,
you caressed their bodies with pride.
We have our leaders to thank,
for allowing these people their prank.
To them it may be a cloth of colors,
to me it stands for freedom and honor.
We must ask our leaders to debate,
and change our flags fate.
My American Flag this promise I give,
to hold you high and let you live.
My words to you are profound,
I’ll keep your colors off the ground.
I will guard and protect your stars and stripes,
with all my power, might and life.
O Flag of our Union
O flag of our Union,
To you we’ll be true,
To your red and white stripes,
And your stars on the blue;
The emblem of freedom,
The symbol of right,
We children salute you,
O flag fair and bright!
